Now, following significant investment, SGS IBR has extended these capabilities in China and the UK. The company’s new and expanded, laboratories in Suzhou and Milton Keynes are equipped with cutting-edge testing technology to offer enhanced performance tests with rapid turnaround and accurate results. These new facilities complement SGS IBR’s existing laboratories in Asia, the UK and USA, providing even greater presence and industry expertise.

Liquid filtration testing

SGS IBR offers equally comprehensive quantitative filtration testing in water, oil and fuels across a broad spectrum of products and markets. Tests are performed in accredited laboratories to regulatory standards, with custom testing also available. Areas of specialization include:

  • Filtration testing for consumer products, automotive, fluid power, HVAC, drinking, medical and industrial processes
  • Product and component particulate cleanliness testing of automotive, fluid power, and medical components
  • Performance testing of vacuum cleaners, room purifiers and other filtration-based consumer products

A first for China

SGS IBR’s new laboratory in Suzhou is the first in China to focus on filtration performance testing, in particular compressed air, facemasks, HEPA & ULPA, HVAC, industrial air and residential air purification. Our capabilities are full and comprehensive, from testing filter materials to the entire end product. With test flow ranges from low- to high-flow products, the Suzhou laboratory provides a full range of solutions for filtration performance across industries from home appliances to automobiles, medicine and aviation. Recent accreditation from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation approves Mechanical Testing of filters, filter materials, vacuum cleaners and air purifiers in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017, confirming the lab is equipped with the technical, administrative and management skills required for accurate and reliable analyses and approval.

Enhanced UK capabilities

COVID-19 saw rapid expansion in the air filtration industry, accompanied by a rise in demand for air filtration testing services. Expansion of an SGS IBR laboratory based in Milton Keynes in the United Kingdom is meeting this demand with new capabilities for testing advanced filtration systems rated down to 0.01-micron particles. The facility has a specialized chamber for testing room air purifiers and vacuum cleaners. The UK lab is also equipped to test compressed air filters, as well as industrial vacuum systems. With UKAS and AHAM accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025, the lab gives industrial and commercial air filter manufacturers across Europe and the United Kingdom access to vastly expanded testing and accreditation services.
