Whitehouse Scientific Sponsors Filtration Society's 2012 Conference

Whitehouse Scientific is once again a major sponsor of The Filtration Society's annual conference and exhibition, which returns on October 2-3, 2012 at the Mercure Chester East Hotel, Christleton, Chester, UK. The main one-day event this year focuses on "Filter Characterization" and will be preceded by a Filter Testing Short Course.

Dr. Graham Rideal, CEO of Whitehouse Scientific is a former chairman of The Filtration Society and currently its science correspondent. "Whitehouse Scientific is delighted to again support the annual Filtration Society conference. One of its attractions for me, is the way that it gives conferees the opportunity to raise matters related to filter testing that are of particular interest to them, thus enabling us to learn from one another."

The Filtration Society conference always attracts industry leaders and this year is no exception. On day one, short course presenters will include: Mark Crooks (TSI, UK), Danny Pattyn (Porometer.com, Belgium), Dr. Christophe Peuchot (IFTS, France), Dr. Steve Tarleton (Loughborough University, UK), and Professor Richard Wakeman (Consultant, UK).

Topics covered will include particle size and shape analysis, porometry and characterizing and testing filter media.

On day two, the main "Filter Characterization" event will include expert presentations on topics as diverse as air filter testing, planning lab scale filtration tests and the importance of particle statistics in challenge testing.

Attendees will also be able to see the latest filtration products at the trade exhibition, which features the unique "Technology burst" session in which exhibitors are given the opportunity to make 5-10 minute presentations about their products or services.

About Whitehouse Scientific
Whitehouse Scientific is a leading producer of glass microspheres for calibration and is the highest-ranking European certification laboratory for primary methods of particle size analysis. The company's standards cover all particle-sizing techniques including laser diffraction, Coulter methods, optical sizing, and sieve calibration and image analysis. Most of these reference materials are NIST-traceable. They range in size from 0.1 micron to 5.0 millimeters and are available as single sizes or broad distribution standards. In addition, Whitehouse offers a unique calibration procedure for NIST-traceable measurement of filter apertures between 3 and 1000 microns, and also produces general-purpose research grade microspheres.

Whitehouse Scientific has been producing calibration microspheres for more than 25 years. Founder and managing director Dr. Graham Rideal is a past chairman of The Filtration Society, and is now active as its Science Correspondent. He is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for International Filtration News magazine.
