American Filtration and Separations Society to Hold Water Filtration and Filter Testing Conference (full screen)

The American Filtration and Separations Society will hold its fall topical conference at the Turf Valley Hotel in Ellicott City, MD on October 4-7, 2010. The topics for this conference are water filtration and filter testing. The conference will be co-located along with the Water Quality Association’s (WQA) fall meeting.

Water Filtration and Separation
Water is the largest single application for filtration and separation worldwide. This tract will continue the AFSS long history of addressing the most pressing issues in filtration and separation.

The program covers the latest technologies in home, municipal, and industrial water treatment. It will include the prefiltration, microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, ion exchange, adsorption, filter aids, etc., whether for use in the most modern industrialized countries or developing world countries. The program will focus on solutions to the demanding challenges of providing clean water to meet the requirements of modern society with the diminishing quality and supply of fresh water. Any engineer, scientist, quality control, marketing, sales or administrative person associated with or interested in water treatment will find this conference quite useful.

Keynote speakers are planned to introduce the latest information in the dynamic world of water treatment to meet the worldwide demand for quality water whether it be for drinking or industrial use or reuse.

Sessions will include:

• Prefiltration
• Membranes
• Adsorption
• Ion Exchange/Softening

The sessions will cover media, device, and systems technology and developments from the leading providers of filtration and separation solutions into the water treatment market.

Filter Testing & Development
This fourth conference on “Filter Testing” will continue the long AFS tradition of dealing with all aspects of filtration testing both for liquid and air.

The program will be well rounded, including test methods, procedures, evaluations and applications. Most types of filters will be addressed, including filter aids, coalescers, and even equipment. Of course, conventional media, cartridge, bag and strainer testing will also be covered. All plant or R&D engineers, QC personnel, test equipment suppliers, and test labs will find this conference quite useful.

Keynote speakers are planned to introduce the latest in filter testing methods and how they can be applied to real-life applications.

Sessions will include:

• Filter Media Testing & Development
• Characterization of Filter Media
• Cartridge, Strainer & Bag Filter Testing
• Filter Cleaning/Testing Procedures
• Filter Aid & Coalescer Developments
• Filter Test Methods
• General Filtration Application Testing

The conference’s technical sessions begin on Tuesday, October 5th.

Short Courses
The conference is kicked off on Monday, October 4th with seven short courses being offered.

These courses will include:

• Fundamentals of Liquid Filtration
• Fundamentals of Air/Gas Filtration
• Microfiltration Membranes
• Ultrafiltration Membranes
• Dewatering in Wastewater Treatment
• Liquid Filtration Testing Basics
• Reverse Osmosis System Design

Sponsorships, Exhibitors
Conference Sponsors will receive the publicity of being a corporate leader in the Filtration Industry, and this publicity will extend beyond the AFS Technical Conference to the AFS Conference Website.

A Conference sponsor will receive:

• Company logo on the AFS website home page before and during the conference
