JCEM’s New P6 Generation Continues to Impress

JCEM, with its main headquarters in Switzerland and with sales, service and parts based in the USA, released the all-new P6 Generation Blade Pleating machine in the summer of 2015. In the year since its introduction, the P6 has proven to be more than even JCEM had planned by truly living up to its target of being the most versatile pleating machine produced in history.

The P6 is unique in that it offers no compromise in performance regardless of the pleating application or pleat height. It can easily pleat very shallow pleat heights in the 3mm – 6mm (.118” – .236”) range using heavy Stainless Steel meshes or similarly difficult-to-pleat materials. In fact, it could be argued the P6 machine is already a success by simply being able to pleat these types of applications so well and with such pleat compression and pleat consistency.

On the other end of the spectrum, and what makes the P6 so impressive, is that it can pleat up to 300mm (11.86”) pleat heights – also a world’s-first achievement. Even at 300mm heights, the P6 offers very respectable pleating speeds of approximately 60 feet/minute. The end-results are pleats with high precision and accuracy along with pleats that are perfectly vertical and not leaned or curved, which is always a tendency for taller pleat depths especially with today’s lighter-weight synthetic materials.

It was always the target for the P6 to be more versatile than any pleating machine that has come before it, but the performance at both the very low and very tall pleat heights is what continues to impress everyone at JCEM, as well as all customers who own the P6 system. JCEM receives regular feedback from customers detailing their positive experiences even in the most challenging applications. Pleating configurations, which were previously dreaded due to inferior pleating equipment that caused high-scrap, slows pleating speeds and a lot of frustration, are now welcomed with open arms. The P6 has truly set a new benchmark in the pleating world and the company is very excited about what the future holds.

Peripheral Equipment

However, don’t be misled that the P6 is all that JCEM has to offer. While the company is laser-focused on designing and manufacturing the world’s best pleating equipment they also recognize the great importance of the peripheral equipment that goes along with the pleating process. Their goal is to offer only those accessories which enhance pleating or the pleat-pack production process.

For example, JCEM recognized long ago the importance of properly feeding material into the pleating process by the use of fully-automatic unwind systems. The company’s Unwind Systems are customized based on the customer’s specific needs including material types, roll weights and diameters, loading methods, floor-space constraints, etc. Sometimes the company feels as if it’s never built two of the same unwinders. Repeatedly, they find customers struggling with their existing pleating AND unwinding processes, which can create even higher scrap, lower production, and of course a lot of frustration from every level of the organization. It’s important to note that JCEM’s Unwind Systems can be offered as a stand-alone piece of equipment as well.

Inline Slitting Equipment

For those who already have a solid unwind solution and are ready to address other bottlenecks or inefficiencies in their current pleating process, JCEM offers off-the-shelf or customized solutions for Inline Slitting or Inline Perforation of single or multi-layer materials. The inline slitting process allows manufacturers to standardize raw material widths down to just a couple of widths instead of purchasing slit-to-width materials for every filter’s size in their catalog, tremendously reducing their media inventory. It also eliminates the need for a separate offline pre-slitting process, which many manufactures still do, by combining the slitting and pleating processes together as one. Depending on the application or the customer preference, inline slitting can either be before or after the pleating process, whatever aligns best with the existing production flow.

Pleating Development & Showroom

JCEM USA, located in Simpsonville, Ky., has an open door for interested customers to visit their facility for a personal demonstration of the all-new P6 Machine, their Multi-Layer Unwinders, or their standard P3 Pleating machine, which is equipped with an Inline Slitting Device. They also have Glass & Synthetic Mini-Pleating capability for pleat heights ranging from 20mm – 300mm, widths up to 1000mm, in glass or synthetic media. Synthetic media with glue-bead separation and pleat heights as tall as 12″ can be found at their Simpsonville facility.
